Welby Family Pays Homage to Their Heritage

On 18 March, Pam Welby and her nephew Mark Bland visited Bishops for a special tour, with a focus on the school’s historic stained glass windows dating back to the 1860s. These windows are not just a testament to the school’s rich history but also commemorate members of the Welby family who lost their lives in the 1893 wars in what is now Zimbabwe.

During their visit, Dr. Murray, who guided the tour, captured photographs and listened carefully to the poignant family history. The stained glass windows serve as a lasting tribute to the bravery and sacrifice of their ancestors.

Pam and Mark, whose family has deep ties to Bishops, took the time to reflect on the powerful connection between their heritage and the enduring legacy of the school. Their visit was a reminder of the personal histories woven into the fabric of the institution.
