Congratulations are extended to James McCallum (2010O) who this past Sunday came out on top in the grueling Durban Ironman race.
We asked James how it went, he repleid: "This was my 3rd time doing the Durban Ironman, it was an extremely well run event considering the times which we are in at the moment.
The race from a personal standpoint was fantastic, it started well with great weather conditions which enabled me to have a good swim. The bike leg was awesome as the course is fast and the road surface is really good which certainly makes it one of the best bike courses in the country, if not the world, so I felt extremely grateful to be racing. The Run leg is completely flat but can be deceiving as ones legs are often tired from the bike and with no downhill or respite for the legs it can make for a long day out if you do not pace yourself. Thankfully I managed to pace myself correctly and finished off a great day out for me by crossing the line in 1st place. It certainly is a day I will never forget and am really looking forward to the next one."
Huge congratulations to James on his victory.
