Over the course of the winter season in Cape Town this year, there have been several OD rugby and hockey matches all of which have been reported on on this website.

One of the recent ones, was the Cobras (an OD side) playing their Rondebosch counterparts, the Nadoes.

The final encounter was on 30 August 2024.  The ODA Ambassador Dr Paul Murray has been following their progress with great enthusiasm, with one of his former Tutees, Tom Liefeldt, captaining the side.  Tom writes about the encounter:

"The final was a closely contested affair. Despite being into the wind in the first half, the Cobras spent the majority of the half inside the Nadoes’s half. A Cobras try in the corner was disallowed and so the sides entered the half at 0-0. We started the second half with 2 penalties from the boot of Matt Lennett, before defending bravely at the end of the game to secure a 6-0 win. Mikey van der Merwe won man of the match as the Cobras secured back-to-back titles for the first time in 7 years."

We offer our heartiest congratuations to the ODs and look forward to an excellent season again, next year.
