Two old "School" friends have united for a Rugby Revolution. Dugald MacDonald (2005S) and Pete Husemeyer (2005S), founders of Sportable Technologies Ltd have developed ball-tracking technology that will empower rugby officials to make quick and accurate calls.

The company uses sophisticated technology to measure the movements of the ball and players in rugby matches. This helps the players to develop their skills, engages the spectators more effectively, and assists referees in critical decisions. Peter Husemeyer obtained his BSc in Mechanical Engineering and his MSc in Computational Mechanics from the University of Cape Town. He obtained his PhD in Nuclear Engineering at Cambridge University.

Dugald believes that ball-tracking technology would empower officials to make quick and accurate calls. Just as HawkEye has revolutionised cricket and tennis, Sportable may ensure that rugby – as a sport and as an engaging commercial product – realises its full potential.
