SGM 12 February: Results

Results from the vote which took place over the past week.
Over the past three days, ODs have been casting their votes to amend the constitution. As a reminder, the proposed resolution was framed as follows:

"RESOLVED THAT the Constitution be and is hereby amended such that each of the members of the Committee shall be elected by the members at the Annual General Meeting."
Three methods of voting were used, namely;
  1. Online voting: through OD Connect;
  2. Proxy voting; and
  3. By way of a ballot.
At the meeting, the members present elected Lukhanyo Neer to scrutinise the results of the vote. After having done so, we advise that the results of the vote are as follows;
  For Against Abstain
Online  221 18 3
Proxy 1 0 0
Ballot 17 0 1
Total 239 18 4

Total votes: 261
The constitutional amendment is therefore approved. It follows that at the Annual General Meeting, members will be asked to vote in support of the election of the Committee member nominees.
