The organisation has many exciting projects starting in 2021. The first new programme, a support programme will start tomorrow. The BSU has made one of their psych interns available to support both VUSA staff and children this year. Many of our children suffer from toxic stress and often our coaches are not equipped to deal with the trauma or circumstances affecting the children. This is a welcome addition to our organisation.

March 2021 will see the launch of the VUSA Mobile Library. Thanks to a generous donor, VUSA has purchased a tuk-tuk, which will visit our four registered ECD centres each morning. VUSA coaches will read books and play games with children with hope of igniting a love reading and a passion for learning.

VUSA U12 and U13 players spent last Saturday cleaning up the community. These clean-up days teach our children about active citizenship and are offer great opportunities to teach them about recycling, the environment and working together to achieve a common goal.

The City Council are confident that the sports fields will open next week and our children will have access to safe, structured play again. Yesterday's tragic accident in Borchards Quarry once again highlights the reality of so many South African children who lack safe facilities to play. Click here to read more.

Wishing you all the very best for 2021.
