Important message from the Principal about spectators at School sports

The boys have missed having parents and ODs there to cheer them on and encourage them and it will be good to see full stands again after almost two years.

Spectators at Bishops sports matches

Tony Reeler (Principal) reports:

It is wonderful to be able to welcome back spectators to our school matches! The boys have missed having parents and ODs there to cheer them on and encourage them and it will be good to see full stands again after almost two years.

Spectators will be required to be fully vaccinated according to current Covid requirements.

The four boys’ schools in the Southern Suburbs have been working together with their communities to ensure that we support school teams appropriately. We held a joint meeting of our cheerleaders to discuss how we promote sport positively amongst the boys’ schools community, supporting vigorously but in a respectful manner that recognizes the importance of the game, the players and officials and our opponents.

Once that game is over, we ask that spectators allow the teams to thank each other and the officials before moving to their spectators for the final war cry. We ask that spectators do not run onto the field as there is a real risk of injury to the players.

Please ensure that your support is positive and encouraging. We will not be permitting alcohol to be consumed or brought onto the grounds. The consumption of alcohol will only be permitted after the final game has concluded and in designated, official spaces. We ask for your support in this regard as we strive to capture the joy that is school sport.

Thank you
