Andrew Stokker & Russell Drury are tackling the Transbaviaans MTB challenge and hoping to raise funds for Cupcakes of Hope whilst doing so.
The Transbaviaans is a 230km, 24hr MTB marathon, not called the toughest single stage race in the world for nothing, taking the riders from Willowmore in the Western Cape, through the Baviaanskloof Wilderness Area. They have to participate as a team, with members going through various checkpoints together, or they face disqualification. Andrew & Russell are hoping to complete the race in 12 hours.
They are hoping to raise funds for Cupcakes of Hope because the charity's fundraising events have been dealt a serious blow due to Covid restrictions on events.
Cupcakes of Hope's initiatives are aimed at providing direct support to children suffering from cancer, committed to assisting them where they need it most. Cupcakes Of Hope raises funds through community driven initiatives, which drive community interaction and grassroots cancer awareness.
Cupcake of Hope assist between 100-120 patients every month by paying for their medical and other day-to-day needs. This year more than 2000 activity packs/gifts have been delivered to 20 pediatric oncology wards across South Africa. Cupcakes of Hope has also supplied hospitals with much need medical equipment, PPE equipment, educational toys as well as doing hospital room makeovers. It’s truly amazing to see how the whole community comes together and uses their God given talent to bless these little patients.
