Ryan's friend, Mark Hartnady (1998S), wrote to the ODU, 

"I write with the sad news of the passing of O.D. Ryan Seegers (1998). He died this past weekend in hospital as a result of complications from a heart valve infection. He leaves behind sister Nicola and mother Clodagh Seegers. 

"Ryan was incredibly talented in the arts. His ability to make people laugh to the point of breathlessness was remarkable. He sang in the A-choir at school, sat as the first chair violinist in the orchestra, and will be remembered as someone who touched many lives with his wonderfully keen sense of creativity and humour."

He was based in California at the time of his passing."
