Michael Bromfield | Prep staff member

The former prep deputy principal, who retired in 2008, passed away on July 30. Current prep principal, Greg Brown, wrote a few words for Mike.

Michael Bromfield | Prep staff member

Sadly, Mike Bromfield, our former Deputy Head who retired from the Prep at the end of 2008, passed away on Thursday morning. He had been ill but his passing was nevertheless quite sudden and unexpected.

Mike made an enormous contribution as a teacher and school leader over a long career. He joined Woodridge College outside Port Elizabeth in its early years and eventually became Head. When he and his family moved to Cape Town he taught at the College for a while before becoming Director of Studies and Deputy Head at the Prep. After retirement he remained a constant friend of the school, always being available to do relief teaching and together with his wife, Heather, attending many of our celebrations and functions. He will be remembered with great affection by many staff, past and present, and the pupils who passed through his classrooms over the many years of his career.

We extend our deepest sympathies to Heather, their daughter Fiona, extended family and friends. Rest in peace, Mike.
