We regret to inform you that Peter Murray passed away on Wednesday 17th April at age of 79.

Peter's brother, Everitt reported: "It is with great sadness I tell you of my brother Peter's death on Wednesday 17th April. He has been so fit & well and suddenly passed away at age of 79.


Peter Harry Murray (F) 1953 - 1957. Peter was a School Prefect & Head of Founders in 1957. He played for 1st XV in 1956 & 57 & was 1st XV Captain in 1957. He also played rugby for Eastern Province on the flank. There is to be a Memorial Service on their farm Rygerspoort, Cradock on Monday 22nd April at 11 am. My brother Keith (F) will conduct the Service."

Our thoughts, prayers and deepest condolences are with his family during the coming weeks.

Peter started in Std 6 in Founders at Bishops. A promising athlete and Rugby player through the age groups receiving his 1st XV and Founders Rugby colours and captaining the 1st XV in 1958. After school, he played for Eastern Province U19 and then for Eastern Province 1st XV.  He played for EP for several years and then for North Eastern Cape.
 
He was a very good farmer and an excellent stockman with a great love for the Karoo. Peter farmed on the family farm ‘Oulton’ in Murraysburg, then on the family farm ‘Zuurfontein’ in Cradock. He later sold this farm and bought ‘Rygerspoort’ also in Cradock. He and his son Mike have built this  into one of the most prestigious game farms in the country
 
Peter married Penny Rubidge on 13th April 1963 and celebrated their 56th Wedding Anniversary on their farm Rygerspoort. He is survived by his wife Penny, daughter Annlee and son Michael married to Helen, and their 2 children Izi and Max
 
The funeral was held on the farm under the Oak tree that Peter planted some 60 years ago. His younger brother Keith (F1963) conducted the funeral service with a huge crowd from all over the Karoo.
