We are very sad to announce the death of Bruce McKenzie who passed away on Saturday 1st December, 2018.

Bruce was a strong supporter of the UK ODU branch and he will be missed by both those closer to his age and younger ODs with whom he mixed so easily. 

BRUCE DAVID IAN MCKENZIE
9.6.1927 to 1.12.2018 
 
Bruce was born in London in 1927.

In 1940 he and family sailed to South Africa on the “Cape Town Castle”.
 
He was at Bishops from 1940 – 1945.
 
After post-matric, he returned to England and went up to Trinity College Oxford where he read for his PPE.
 
At Oxford, he rowed for Trinity when they won “Head of the River”.
 
After university, he spent a short time in Bristol and Rhodesia in the tobacco industry before attending Harvard Business School.
 
He later went into shipping and became a shipbroker, and then a Maritime Arbitrator which role he performed until his retirement.
 
He had a lifelong passion for singing and belonged to many choirs. He was a keen artist.
 
Bruce leaves wife Hilary and daughter Fiona to whom we send our sincerest condolences.
