Elisabeth Anderson, the wife of the senior master, Mr Peter Anderson (1970-1984), passes away.

She will be sorely missed by many generations of children who were taught by her.

Elisabeth Anderson  passed on peacefully during the night on the 26th March 2025. She had been ill for some time and was staying at a home for the elderly in Sherwood Avenue, Kenilworth, Cape Town.

She leaves behind her husband, Peter (Levick) Anderson, her son Peter (Robert) Anderson (1984K), and her her daughters Janet, Megan and Pippin.

Her husband, Peter, was the head of Bishop's Prep from 1970 until 1984.
Her son Peter (Robert) wrote matric at Bishops in 1984 and lectures English at UCT. Her daughter Pippin also lectures at UCT.

Peter and Elisabeth left Cape Town in 1985 to teach at St Mark's College in Jane Furse, Limpopo. Peter was the first Head Master at St Mark's and Elisabeth taught History and built up a wonderful library at the school.

Elisabeth left St Mark's in 1998 to go and lead the Centre for the Book in Cape Town. After retirement she and Peter lived for many years on the coast at Kasouga, about 70 kilometres south of Grahamstown.

They then moved to Kenilworth where they were closer to their children who have lovingly looked after them as they became more frail.

She will be sorely missed by many generations of children who were taught by her at so many schools including in particular Abbotts College in Rondebosch and St Mark's College in Jane Furse, Limpopo, as well as her many colleagues and friends at these institutions and elsewhere.

May our Lord have mercy on her soul and may she rest in peace and rise in glory.
