It is with deep sadness that we report the sad passing of Thomas Everitt Trollip Murray (1953F) on 5 January 2024 in Graaff Reinet.  Known as Everitt, he was in Founders House matriculating in 1953.  He was born on 21 January 1937. He would have been 87 on his next birthday.

Everitt grew up at Roode Bloem, Graaff Reinet. He began his schooling at Union High in Graaff Reinett and completed Matric at Bishops in Founders in 1953.

He did Post Matric at Bishops in 1954.

The year after, he began farming at the family farm Roode Bloem in 1955.

Everitt’s father Tim Murray (1927F) was an OD.

Everitt served his community tirelessly whether it be sport, church or business. He was the secretary of the Graaff Reinet Gun Club from inception in 1962 to the end.

He is survived by Thomas Everitt Vardy Murray (1980 F) farming at Roode Bloem, Janet Webber and Sandy Putziger; and his Grandchildren, Tom Murray (2015 F), Elizabeth Murray and Katherine Murray, James Webber, Matthew Webber, Kirsten Putziger, Aaren Putziger and Hans Putziger and his Great Grandchild, Alice Webber, and Brothers Peter (1958 F) and Keith (1963 F).

Everitt spent his last year in mid and frail care at Parsonage Street Home in Graaff Reinet.

He passed away peacefully in his room being visited by friends and family.

He leaves behind his son, Tim Murray (1980F) and daughters, Janet Webber and Sandy Putziger

We send our condolences to his son Tom and the family.

His celebration of life service will be held at 10 am on Tuesday 09 January 2024, in the St James Anglican Church, 35 Somerset Street, Graaff Reinet.
