Charles Koster (1983F) | 1964 - 2021

Charles sadly passed away on the 6th July 2021 after a long and brave battle with dreaded cancer.

We are sad to announce the passing of Charles ‘Charlie’ James Koster (1983F).

Charles, born on 4 December 1964, sadly passed away yesterday, 6 July 2021 after a long and brave battle with dreaded cancer.

Charles was a loving son, husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin and great friend to so many and a true son of Bishops at  Prep from 1973 – 1977 and College from 1979 -  1983.

Charles was in Founders House and played First Team Rugby and Cricket, each, for three years (1981 – 1983)!

We chose the photograph above, specially because of Charlie’s great love for his sport and his school.  Charlie was chosen for the W.P. Schools’ Cricket side.  He played provincial ruby after school.

Charles was a farmer, farming on his family farm, Klavervlei in Beaufort West, where his father Peter (at Bishops from 1948 – 1955) farmed.  His Uncles Werner (1948-1957) and Wilfred (1954 – 59) were also at Bishops as were their sons.  His brother John (1975-79), also a farmer, was also in Founders House.

Our heartfelt condolences go to his wife Catherine and children Emma and James (at Bishops from 2012-19) and Jackie his mother, and to his brother John, his sisters Jenny and Sally, and to all the family.

A full obit will be posted with the next newsletter.

We do not have words to express how sad we are with Charles’ passing, we have lost a great friend and son of Bishops. Charles was just such a special guy!

Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen.
