Read the activity update from the OD Ambassador

Coffee with Kate Manley (2007W) and Sasha Mngomezulu (2020F)

The OD Ambassador sent us an update on all the activities he has been involved in, and also the work he has been doing across a number of branches at home and abroad.

I would just like to share with you that we are working hard at the ODU to connect with ODs locally and around the world.

We are encouraged by all the wonderful activities that the Branch Secretaries are engaged in and the role that you as ODs and OD Representatives play, locally and across all the continents.

Here at the ODU apart from regularly receiving OD visitors, we have already hosted a range of events such as the farewell lunch to our Patron Raymond Ackerman, an appreciation lunch for ODs at The Mitre and a book discussion with an OD author, with more to come of these kinds of events lined up including colloquia and music events in collaboration with the Music Department.  The OD Ambassador recently addressed the Matric Class about their future as ODs; and scheduled in the calendar are a range of society meetings at The Mitre for students and ODs combined - at one of these OD Mubeen Goolam will address the society and in another Tim Jenkin will tell them about his ‘Great Escape’.

We are finalising the plans for having OD gatherings in various places in SA including Gauteng and the other provinces.

The OD Ambassador recently attended the Ist Team rugby event at Makhanda, meeting with ODs there and there are further OD sporting events organised for August and planned for later this year.
Please let me know how I can support you for these kinds of activities.

The 175 planning committee at the school includes the ODU with a wide range of activities that we will be involved in.

I am excited about it all and express my gratitude to
ODs for their wonderful responses and connecting with me as well as all the hard work in continuing to build the OD network and connecting ODs around the world.

It would be good to see you over tea/coffee at The Mitre!

I can be contacted at 0027 (0) 83 5159526.

If you would like to reach out by email my address is pmurray@bishops.org.za

Wishing all ODs and their families well.

Paul Murray.
