On Thursday 01 August 2024 Bishops staged the 175 Celebratory Concert with all three schools and ODs participating.

This according to many was one of the best ever... in true Bishops style, and in keeping with its strong music tradition.

The String Ensemble, Brass Band, Wind Band, Marimbas, Choir, Jazz Band, Simply Blue and finally the Orchestra all participated.

ODs in the photograph above are LtR - Jakob Holm (2019S), Peter Worthington-Smith (2019G), Shannon Thebus (2015B), Drew Burton (2019G), Archie Swanson (1973G), Matthew Golesworthy (2011K), Grant McLachlan (1974F), Max Molyneux (2022B), Jonty Couves (2022M), Dylan de Groot (2023G), Oli Hufton (2023B), and Richard Mason (2023G).

Not in the photo is Stephen Carletti (1983G) of whose composed works featured, namely Avatar by Horner arranged by Carletti.

One of the real gems of the evening was the the arrangement by Grant McLachlan of Psalm 150 by Stanford.

All ODs and staff attended a post concert drinks party at the historic Lodge hosted by Jos Taylor and Mark Mitchell of the Music Department.

The evening of celbration of Bishops' 175 year was memorable.  The venue being the Memorial Chapel provided the most astounding acoustics.  Its architect Percy Walgate's purpose for this structure was also for the school's strong music tradition to rely on such amazing acoustics.

We certainly saw that last night!
