In a close-knit gathering at The Mitre on the evening of Wednesday, September 20th, ODs and friends of Dr. Bob Baigrie were treated to a lecture that left the room brimming with energy.

The event featured Dr. Baigrie, a distinguished retired surgeon and accomplished adventurer who took the audience on a mesmerizing journey of conquering the Rwenzori Mountains, often referred to as the "Mountains of the Moon," followed by an exploration of Uganda's beauty and culture.

Dr. Paul Murray, introduced Dr. Bob Baigrie with a flair that only he could muster. With an air of aplomb, Dr. Murray highlighted Bob's exceptional accomplishments and provided a glimpse into their shared history at the college, a testament to bonds that go far back.

As the evening unfolded, it became abundantly clear that this event was more than just a talk; it was a profound, immersive experience. Dr. Baigrie's intellectual prowess shone through as he recounted his enthralling adventure in the Rwenzori Mountains. His vivid descriptions and thoughtful insights transported the audience to the heart of the expedition, where challenges were met with determination, and breathtaking landscapes unfolded at every turn.

The audience was captivated by the tales of adventure and self-discovery. It was an evening filled with inspiration. As the audience left The Mitre that evening, they carried with them a renewed zest for life's grand adventures.

Dr Murray, Lynn, and Dedry are to be thanked for working behind the scenes to ensure the event's success. They overcame a number of challenges, ranging from load shedding and seating arrangements, to catering and the chilly Cape Town weather.
