Dealing with Depression
Dealing with Depression
OD Committee member Arthur Mngxekeza (1997F) appeared in This Life Online Magazine recently. The magazine explains:

Arthur's story is unique in that it is featured in our series of Navigating Depression. Growing up during the Apartheid Era was not easy for Arthur and has resulted in the battle of depression. In his story, Arthur shares about his childhood, his appreciation for having been able to attend Bishops College and how his battle with depression only drives him further towards helping others.

The ODU would really like to express our appreciation to Arthur for this open, honest, and very real exposure of himself through the article. May others find inspiration and hope by reading Arthur's brave story.

The article begins as follows:

Believing that it’s so often an exposing light that facilitates healing, we continue our series investigating how people live with depression, now the world’s leading disability. Meet ARTHUR MNGXEKEZA, a man who’s determined to persevere through his emotional challenges. Here he describes his uniquely South African childhood, then explains how depression set in and how he copes with it.
