OD Updates |
Greetings. I offer this fun news. I was part of a small delegation to the recent COP24 UN Climate Conference in Katowice Poland. I also visited Aushwitz concentration camp during my week in Poland. I was tracking the Adaptation work stream, listening to how organizations are attempting to promote keeping global temperature rise within 1.5 degrees Celsius, which some scientist affirm would be necessary to prevent a spiraling catastrophe of melting glaciers, rising sea levels and related weather extremes.
As a delegation we participated in a prayer vigil in support of the Gwich'in, indigenous people in Alaska. Their rhythm of living is being threatened by oil exploration and rising temperatures in the Arctic.
I took a day to visit Aushwitz, of course a very powerful experience. I have other photographs from COP24 and Aushwitz which I can email if you so desire.
Gratitude for the great OD magazine and all the wonderful work Bishops continues to do.
with gratitude
