The first few months in the new job were spent settling in and getting to know the ropes of this amazing worldwide organization.

The subsequent time abroad provided a strong perspective of just how far and wide it stretches and how powerful it is.

The year has seen activities extended; internationally and locally - with great energy from ODs in their constituencies coming through.  Working like this has been one of the highlights.  Thanks to everyone for all they do to promote ODs connecting and engaging!

Holding colloquia and book discussions at The Mitre has also been exciting seeing the venues full, also at the music concerts.

Playing in arranged winter games  against kindred associations was also great.

Meeting and greeting ODs from all over the world at The Mitre over tea or coffee after a tour of the school and the reunions has been a great pleasure; and just communicating in emails or WhatsApp, all a great honour!

Holding student society meetings at The Mitre knowing that these students will soon be ODs is important - we have sixteen of these each year.  Equally, connecting with the Matrics about the theme for their annual dance and attending it were other important moments.

There is more to report on but we’ll do so another time, suffice to say I’ve enjoyed working with the ODU Office and the Bishops staff members that ensure the smoothe running of things on a daily basis.  It has also been great to see how Martin, Stefano and the OD Committee work hard to keep the ship afloat and things in the ODU progressing.

We stand still to remember our ODs who have left us and continue to hold their families and friends in our prayers.

Thanks to all of you in your various roles both here in SA and abroad for all you do for the Union.

I wish you and your families all a fabulous 2024 and to Bishops, best wishes for your 175th birthday coming up!
