David Dallas (1951O): CJ – A Remarkable Life

General
David Dallas (1951O): “CJ, as my grandfather was universally known, was a headmaster in Natal who founded the Durban Primary Schools Cricket Union and upon retirement in 1931 established the Natal Schools Week for high schools. He was later appointed the first Organising Secretary of Nuffield Week - the annual inter-provincial cricket tournament for high schools. It was a position he filled for the ensuing twenty years until he finally retired at the age of eighty. Many ODs participated in those weeks and indeed Bishops produced significantly more Western Province representatives than any other school. In addition, by 1957 Bishops had also produced 23 South African School representatives with the next school on 15. Many ODs will have very happy memories of their participation in those weeks."
