Class of 2024

Dear Bishops Community

We are delighted to announce our most recent academic results for the Matric Class of 2024.

This was the first year that 19 of our boys opted to take the Cambridge curriculum and wrote their A Levels in place of the National Senior Certificate. The overall NSC results are thus different from previous years as they reflect the performance of a cohort of 133 boys instead of the full class of 152.

We have reported on both the NSC and the Cambridge results.

We are very proud of our boys and congratulate them all on their efforts, particularly as their first year of College was the outbreak of Covid. We wish them well for their chosen path after Bishops!

NSC examination highlights 2024 are as follows:

  • 133 boys wrote the NSC examinations;
  • 100% pass rate achieved;
  • 94.7% Bachelors pass;
  • 7% of all subject results were above 90%;
  • 30% of all subject results were above 80%;
  • There were 32 A aggregates (24% of the class) and 2 boys achieved an aggregate of 90% and above;
  • The top student was Milan Sandri with an aggregate of 93.6%, followed by James Grieve with 91.8% and Christopher Gray and Peyton Leigh with 89.4%;
  • 9 distinctions were achieved by Milan Sandri;
  • 8 distinctions were achieved by Peyton Leigh;
  • 9 boys achieved 7 distinctions, 5 achieved 6 distinctions and 9 achieved 5 distinctions;
  • 19% of the class achieved 5 distinctions or better;

We are extremely proud of these results and congratulate every boy on his achievement. We thank all their teachers whose guidance and motivation, over all the years, made such a big difference. Finally, our thanks to parents, family members and the Bishops community who supported our boys. You can be very proud of them!

Cambridge A Level highlights 2024 are as follows:

  • 19 boys wrote Cambridge International GCE AS and A Level examinations wherein they specialized in three subjects each in their Grade 12 year.
  • For comparison, the following table gives an indication of the level of the Cambridge symbol when compared with the National Senior Certificate as used by universities.
  • 100% pass rate achieved
  • 14 A*s and 18 As were achieved which equates to 53% of all grades
  • Nicholas Caldwell, Jacob Fried and Michael Kotze were the top three performers with all earning three A*s each.
  • The top Cambridge student was our Dux, Jacob Fried
  • Six more boys earned three A or A* grades each

We are incredibly proud of the grades achieved by our first cohort of Cambridge boys and would like to congratulate each and every one of them for undertaking this challenging curriculum and achieving a fantastic set of results.

Yours sincerely

Tony Reeler
