Founders Week - OD Dinner

What a night!

This was a night to remember.  ODs from across the globe gathered for what has been described as the best one yet!  The OD Dinner was a resounding success with letters of thanks and appreciation still coming in.

The evening contained all the essential elements of a great night out.  Kelvin Grove did not disappoint as a venue, and tables were beautifully presented and set out in the ballroom.  In fact there were so many ODs (full house of more than 350 seats) we had to overflow into the upstairs balconies.

Pre-drinks were enjoyed on the lawns where a beautiful sunset framed the festivities.  The evening started with Father Monwabisi Peter saying grace and was followed by starters.  Judge Craig Howie (1956G) announced the new committee and was part of the loyal toast. Our favourite Stormers coach, John Dobson (1985K) then took us on an amusing 'Trip down memory lane' that had the crowd laughing from the get go.  The entertainment continued when seasoned comedian, Nic Rabinowitz, and OD, Glen Biderman-Pam (2007F)  richly entertained the audience with all manner of anecdotes and hilarity.

The delicious 175 Wines on the tables and available for sale definitely contributed to the fine affair. The food was superlative and the fabulous 'Simply Blue' singers added to the flavour. The audience initially quieted when they began singing a cappella but the tunes were familiar and soon a few ODs in the crowd could be heard joining in with the chorus.

After dinner ODC member, Bulelani Calana (2000W), thanked everyone for coming and their part in making it such a special night.  People mingled late into the night, not wanting the evening to end.  The atmosphere was one of frienship, fellowship and fun.  This one is going to be a hard one to beat.

We look forward to seeing you all again next year.
