Paul Murray, OD Ambassador, found himself unexpectedly in conversation with Johan Loubser (1962,0), who, upon spotting Paul's OD cap, initiated a friendly chat.

Johan reminisced about his school days spent at the Prep school, where his father,  Albert Loubser, affectionately known as Lobby, dedicated an impressive 41 years of his life to teaching. This remarkable tenure undoubtedly places him among the school's longest-serving staff, particularly at the Prep school level.

Currently enjoying a two-week visit to Cape Town, Johan, accompanied by his wife Gail and sister Lucille, is soaking up the coastal charm in Muizenberg alongside family and friends.

Albert 'Lobby' Loubser, a stalwart of the Prep school, left an indelible mark on the institution through his multifaceted contributions. Apart from being a dedicated Afrikaans teacher, he served as a Housemaster, coached Rugby, and showcased his own athletic prowess on the sports field. Beyond that, Lobby shared his passions by overseeing societies dedicated to Philately and Geology.

Known for his infectious good humor, boundless energy, and a willingness to extend a helping hand, Lobby became a beloved figure in the school community. Johan's animated account provided a captivating glimpse into the life of a man who positively influenced the lives of thousands of students under his caring guidance.

Paul and Johan's chance encounter not only brought forth fond memories but also shed light on the rich legacy of Mr. Albert 'Lobby' Loubser - a legacy that continues to resonate with those who had the privilege of being part of his educational journey.
